Born in Montréal, Québec in 1960, where she still resides.

As a young child, Leila was most interested and fascinated by the world’s diverse cultures. Through books, magazines, pamphlets and many other forms of information and documentation she learned of the many different cultures and traditions throughout the world and based her lifestyle and artistic influences on what touched her the most.

Leila began her studies at Concordia University in Montreal in fashion design, and continued her quest for knowledge by adding sculpture, jewellery design and ceramics to her resume. These variants led to a solid base of many artistic fields from which she developed her own unique style.

From 1996 thru 2001, Leila owned and operated a decorative art boutique which included refinishing and restoring furniture. She also created a line of fashion garments and home accessories inspired by Moorish, Arabian and geometric forms. These inspirations can still be found in many of Leila’s art-works, as she includes cultural symbols from around the world in her compositions in a most personal and unique manner. You will discover in Leila’s art references to hieroglyphics, Venetian medallions, religious and traditional cultural symbols all adding to a broad global vision.

A never ending research for inspiration in the use of different materials to share her message consumes her creative quest. The fruit of her research in symbols and materials led to the “Around the World” collection that took form. The popularity that followed this inspirational format has led her to evolve artistically with profound personal passions and convictions.
