Houde, Louise

Louise Houde (1946 - 2016).

Medium : oil

It was from 1961-1962, in her early twenties, that Louise Houde first travelled to Scotland and France to study painting. Back in Quebec, in 1963, she enrolled at the Quebec School of Fine Arts and studied with well-known artist Albert Rousseau. Always eager to refine her work, she then travelled and studied in Japan, in 1972, and again in France, in 1975.

Houde paints still life and landscapes that are semi-abstract. Her work distinguishes itself by the use of bold contour lines that define form and, sometimes, space.
