Girard, Claude

Girard, Claude

Medium: mixed media

Born in 1954 in the region of Quebec called Les Bois-Francs.

In 2004, Girard received a certificate in Visual Arts at the Bishop University of Montreal. In her paintings, we discover her interest for landscapes and the human anatomy.

Her landscapes represent an abstract environment where the main subject is trees. Her sensual paintings of the human anatomy always portrays a character deeply involved in his thoughts. Both her themes capture one’s attention, for they reveal a state of intimacy. Both are also placed in a very romantic background.

Girard tends to play with texture and perspective. The palette she uses is subtle, creating a very theatrical lighting. She seeks softness and harmony through her paintings, while always pursuing her quest for a poetic yet dramatic effect. The finished product leaves the onlooker in awe, questioning himself where he may find such a place to dwell, reflect, and sooth his introspection.
