George, Vincent

Medium : mixed media

Born in the United States.

Vincent George grew up in Newburgh, New York, where the rolling hills of Upstate New York inspired Vincent for a lifetime of painting. His childhood was spent hiking in the summers and skiing in the winters. Vincent brought a sketchbook on hikes and the sketching quickly became more important than the hiking. At the age of 14, Vincent began using paint to embellish the rough sketches that he would bring back from his adventures. While Vincent lived as an average teenager playing football, basketball, and baseball throughout high school, art became his priority by the age of 17.

Vincent was accepted to the Savannah College of Art & Design, but after a year, he decided the environment at the Pratt Institute was more his style. He studied Illustration and Communication Design. Vincent was exhilarated by the Brooklyn, New York campus. Even so, his preference to live in quiet rural places was confirmed. After getting his Bachelor's degree from The Pratt Institute, Vincent accepted a job near his hometown of Newburgh as an industrial designer and illustrator. Throughout these years, Vincent had a studio space in his home. He dreamed of painting full-time, but it wasn't until he moved to Georgia two years later that he was able to do so.

Vincent continues to fine-tune his painting style. The Equinox series has a special place in his heart, since each painting in the series is inspired by his childhood spent in the lush landscape of New York.
