Farruggello

Farruggello

Medium : acrylic on canvas

Born in Nice, France, artist Farruggello first brushed the art world by working in several framing workshops.

Farruggello began painting in 1989, in Quebec. His first pieces were inspired from architectural structures and urban environments which he reconstructs with amusement. His present pieces are still inspired by these experiences.

Farruggello’s participation in several live painting events certainly encouraged greater gesture freedom. These live painting events first happened in Montreal' s underground scene. The artist was later invited to participate in international events such as Montreal’s Grand Prix. His art will further serve social causes with his collaboration to "Solitaire face à l’itinérance". This was a widespread campaign in Montreal in winter 2003. He was also invited to the event called "Parler au Mur" in 2004.

In 2005, Farruggello moved his workshop to the Eastern Townships. There, a major shift in his painting occurred. His recent works, in monochrome tones, make way for a more poised pictorial expression where the notion of depth is important. Earth tones and Prussian blues are present in these compositions. Fluidity and a certain peacefulness emerge from these Farruggello paintings created in an environment closer to nature.

Farruggello has presented his works  in over thirty public venues : offices, galleries, and “maisons de la culture”. He has also distinguished himself as an artist by participating in over a hundred live painting performances in Montreal.
