Nicolas Dignard was born in 1976 in Lac-Beauport. Being from a family who greatly encouraged the art of travelling the world, Nick left the comfort of his home at 17 to participate in distinguished snowboarding competitions. This adventure enabled him to discover the majestic landscape that inhabits Canada. At this point, he was amongst the youngest snowboarding professionals worldwide.

In between competitions, photo shoots for magazines, and snowboarding events, Nick dedicated his free time to visiting art galleries, museums, and the studios of various artists. All of these activities enabled him to nourish his artistic endeavours.

Nick came back to Quebec at the age of 23, ready to undertake new challenges. He decided to open his own sporting goods agency. He was to stay in this line of work for 10 years.

Today, Nick paints full time in a studio based in his home. Self-taught, he seeks inspiration in nature and through everyday life experiences. His abstract paintings are created on wood, where he applies several layers of acrylic paint. His work is spontaneous, intuitive, and full of life.
