Camiré, Carl

Camiré, Carl

Medium : mixed media

Born in Montreal in 1963.

Camiré completed his studies in fine arts at the Édouard Montpetit College and a course specializing in commercial illustration. He then became the artistic director of a magazine for six years. Afterwards, he established himself in Guadeloupe where he worked as a set designer. During this period, he concentrated himself on painting. Once back in Quebec, being filled with inspiration and warm colours, he continued to paint with passion and feverish energy.

For Camiré, painting means representing on canvas the life that surrounds him. He has succeeded this challenge brilliantly. Not only does his work seduce, but it also touches the onlooker, who then becomes more sensitive, aware, and respectful of “Mother Nature” and “Life” itself. Camiré’ s colours are flamboyant, intense, and vibrant. They depict marvellously the message he is trying to make by capturing the very essence of Nature; beautiful and fragile yet beholding inner strength. The trees in his paintings are very symbolic, combining both the spiritual and natural elements in nature. Even the omnipresent texture and depth, that one can’ t help but notice in Camiré’ s paintings, is in unison with his Universal Theme. The finishing touch, his unique way of applying layers of varnish, accentuates the dramatic effect in his creations.

Camiré’ s paintings bring us into another dimension where Nature’s temperament is brought forth, reminding us of its importance and of its immensity. Thus, reminding us of our own vulnerability.
