The tension and beat of the 21st century
Born in Jonquiere, Quebec, Gisèle Boulianne now lives in Quebec City.
After more than 20 years of working as a teacher in Applied Arts, Gisèle completed her Bachelor’ s degree in Visual Arts at Laval University in 2006. Here, she was awarded 2nd prize at the Exhibit of the Graduates. The pieces that she now creates are representative of the world within which we live.
Her style is very expressive and colourful, reflecting the artists’ intensity. The determined and audacious brush strokes that can be found in a Boulianne painting accentuates the movement and energy that well reflect an urban scenery. The collages and textures that the artist adds to her paintings blend in perfectly well with the rest of the composition, making the entire piece harmonious and very interesting.
Her contemporary work is found in several Art magazines of artists’ from Quebec and France. Several galleries in Quebec represent Gisèle Boulianne, and she has participated in many expositions held in cities such as New-York, Portland (Oregon), Marseille, and Paris.
“My artwork requires a combination of photography, new media technology and painting. I think, I memorize and I structure compositions that propose a link to time and space. Deep into the act of painting, I free my inner spirit onto the canvas and I create a piece that has rhythm. The entire scene vibrates under extreme nuances of bright colours. I then add calligraphy to the artwork that allows me to share my deepest and most intimate reflections”.
