Aguilar, Jorge
Medium : clay, mixed media
Jorge Aguilar was born in Mexico in 1973.
From 1993 to 1996, he learned clay sculpting techniques from one of the best-known Mexican sculptors, Javier Marin. He completed his art studies at the Antigua Academia de San Carlos in Mexico. Since 2003, Aguilar has been sculpting and painting in Montreal.
His interest in volume, matter, light, and movement can be seen through his art. His subjects evolve in the space that surrounds them as dancers or acrobats would. His sculpting style combines both of his ideals. He is very much influenced by his Mexican background as well as by his mentors: Niki de Saint Phalle and Fernando Botero. The way which he blends his clays and pigments, give his works a very sensitive touch. Through his Art, the artist shares his love for life with the unlooker.
